The application In nearly all areas of our lives, electricity plays a more and more important role. One of the side effects of this development are the electromagnetic fields that, in turn are the cause of fears amongst the population. The legislative body has reacted to this with various norms and laws like for example EN V 50166, EN 50366, 26. BImschV, DIN VDE 0848, BGV B11 and with these, it underlines the necessity to act and do research in this young branch of modern technology. Electric Engineering today is constantly revolutionized by new developments in power electronics and microprocessors. They allow for high-speed processing, efficient utilization of electrical energy and entirely new application fields. Disturbances to sensitive controls increase rapidly as the current intensity and speed raises. Electric and magnetic field measuring meters are very useful instruments, when it comes to tracking them down. In these cases, simultaneous measuring of electric and magnetic fields plays an important role too, since both components can change independently and unpredictably of each other, resulting in additional interferences.
The 3D H/E fieldmeter ESM-100 is a patented, unique hand held measuring instrument. It can easily measure electric and magnetic alternating fields simultaneously, independent of their direction, and at one point. With this piece of equipment it is possible for anybody, to carry out quick, professional and error-free measurements, right from the beginning. With a small sensor, short-range sources of interference can be measured precisely without the values being falsified by averaging. In comparison to instruments which measure the magnetic and electric fields separately, the measuring times are halved. Even if for example, today only the magnetic field appears to be of interest, the electric field is measured automatically as well and tomorrow it is available, with just the touch of a key, for all those readings. The frequency range of 5Hz-400kHz covers the main part of the electric
and magnetic fields created by power electronics. Very low and very high
field intensities as, for example in the operative range, can be measured.
Thanks to the possibility of being able to carry out electric field measurements
holding the ESM-100 in ones hand, polluted areas can be found very quickly.
The software Graph ESM-100 enables communication between computers and ESM-100 meters, as well as its remote control It is ideal to document the measurements. It was developed specifically for the ESM-100 measuring instrument and was adapted to the needs and specifications of EMC metering. With one mouse click, you can create graphs, tables or
movable 3-D field distribution diagrams. The scaling and lettering of
the axes is automatic. By means of a simple selection of the appropriate
tab control you can follow the measured values similarly to on the meter's
display or you can display them on the scope as a graph in real time.
